Hi all,

I am currently planning out a new office space for home-working and would really like to have a standing desk (ideally I'd like one that can switch between sitting and standing, but am aware that I don't have a massive budget!)

I've had a look at the IKEA offering and found if a bit too wobbly when standing (unless the version I used was poorly put together?) and I wondered if anyone else had recommendations in this area?

Cheers,
BR

Build your own?
Using adjustable legs (from IKEA), mine was/is sturdy enough to support my leaning on it (14st) and the PC (about 18kgs).
Its a pain to switch as you have to clear the desk and adjust each leg individually but if it something you don't do often, its fine. The electric motor part is what bumps the price up. Must be a hand crank version though (ooh...steampunk it....ideas....hmmm...)
A flat floor and desk top being level are key.

I built one last year using the ikea electric legs / frame coupled with an Ikea solid wood worktop, cut to size. I spend about 3 hours per day perched on an indoboard :)

Highly recommend it.

I did spend about 6 months using a box on top of a standard desk just to check it wasn't a fad but soon realised it was beneficial.

Thanks all - will take a look at the other thread (sorry to have missed it); quite keen to have something that can be both up & down (I'd stand to work, but sit to game... probably).

I did initially think about a treadmill desk, but my budget has scaled back that idea to starting with just standing!

(the indoboard would end in a trip to A&E, I am sure of it...)

I've got the IKEA electric sit-stand corner desk.

For the money (compared to alternatives) you can't beat it. I also don't find it wobbly when extended.

I am on my 3rd transformer in 1 year though, the little power unit doesn't seem to be able to cope.
