Standoffs don't align?

Hi all,

I have just started a new build (first time alone) and I have a bit of a problem.

In the process of installing the motherboard into the case, I've noticed that the pre-installed standoffs in the case do not align with all the holes in the MB.

6 of the 9 holes do line up, but 3 (the 3 furthest away from the back plate) don't. I will only be able to put a maximum of 6 screws in.

Is this something I need to be worry about? Or should I just go ahead and install it this way?

(MB is an Asus TUF Z270 Mark 2 Intel Z270 (Socket 1151). Case is a Phanteks Enthoo Pro).

No don't install it anyway.. You may short something if one of the non matching standoff touch the circuity.

Take the standoffs out and read the case manual.. It should clearly show which are the ATX holes you need (letter codes). If you have to, lower the motherboard in to align the holes only.

No, as long has you don't stress the board when fitting connectors/ internal components (Graphics card etc) and the back plate lines up it'll be fine.

Case manual doesn't mention this. The standoffs that I can't use aren't in contact with the MB - they are beyond the far edge. Proceed then?

Have just noticed that the MB manual helpfully says 'place nine screws into the holes indicated by circles' and shows a diagram that clearly only has seven circles on it. FFS. So actually there's only one MB hole I can't put a screw into. I can't move a standoff under it because there isn't a place in the case for it to go. MB otherwise well seated into position even without screws. Think I may just have to go for it.

As long as there are no standoffs touching the motherboard anywhere they shouldn't and you've fitted as many in the right place as the case allows then you're safe to proceed.

Case diagram shows 9 standoffs. MB secured by 6. Remaining 3 are beyond the free edge of the board. I think we're good.

Sounds like they are in the EATX position although the Enthoo Pro manual states they are installed in the ATX positions by default.

If you can I'd try and move the middle one to the correct place as the case looks like it has a hole in the right place for the 7th hole on the board according to both manuals.

Can't post a photo just now.

There is 100% no hole for a standoff underneath the 7th hole in the MB.

I was referring to an Enthoo Pro manual earlier and it didn't make sense. Turns out that the manual the site directed me to was for a similar, but different, case.

As long as there's enough to support the board you should be fine.obviously remove any that don't have a corresponding hole in the motherboard.

Standoffs that don't interfere with the board can be left where they are, as I did when fitting a new board
