Standoffs / Motherboard screws

Hi, I just got a Lian-Li PC-7 plus case and a Gigabyte DS3 motherboard.

I am trying to screw the motherboard into the case, I so far have put the standoffs into the case in the correct positions and I then placed the motherboard on top of them.

I however cannot get the screws to screw down completely into the motherboard and the standoffs, there is a gap of about a millimeter or two between the screw and the motherboard.

The motherboard is secure the way it is, but is important that the screws be screwed down the entire way to completely cover the little dots that are within the rings around the screw? or can they just sit the way they are?

do the screws go in easily up till that point?

you can get little red fibre washers that will take up that slack - though you don't want to overtighten the screws anyway, just enough so they grip the motherboard

lol, good thinking. Also some internal screw have a slightly different thread size. Give a few different screws a go.

Also do this with some in your hands, not in the case, much easier to check each screw/riser when you are holding them both in your hands. :)

I got one of them to go in the full way easily, but the other 6 don't screw in particulary easy, but I can get them in a bit, just not the full way.

Im not sure if these are the correct screws, but they came in the same bag as the standoffs, and they are the perfect size to fit within the circle and cover the dots that surround the holes on the motherboard. The board is securely in the case, I was just wondering does it matter if they are not in the full way, covering those dots (are they earthing dots or something?). Another bag with smaller screws came with the case, but they are not big enough to cover the dots.

Personally I just make sure that the motherboard is secure, that's all that matters to me.

Sounds like it's ok...a little strange with the fact the don't go in all the way, but nothing bad I wouldn't have thought.

Get the screw and try putting it into a Standoff that is not in your case. If it does not go in properly then either you have the wrong screws or the wrong standoffs.
