Problem with SLI cropped up here and its a wierd one.

Popped a 2nd 8600GTS in today, changed the jumpers on the mobo to SLI mode, put the bridge accross and rebooted.

Detected the 2nd card and enabled sLI

So far so good, but then i go to run 3DM06, and major curruption in that, also major currption in crysis benchamrk.

Ok, i think the card ive just added may be duff so i try the new card by itself in the top slot.

It runs fine and not an artifact in site with it on its own. So i pop the other card back in and corruption again. tested the card i already had by itself and its fine.

So after some head scratching i decide to take the SLI bridge off.

Reboot and run 3dm06. Like magic it runs to the end and get a healthy score increase from the single card configuration.

So i put the bridge back, and corruption again

Could i have a duff SLI bridge?

At first i thought my PSU may not be up to it but its a corsair 520w and ive only got 2 HDDs and a DVDRW to go with the 2 GFGX cards so id be very suprosed if it wasnt up to the job.

Very strange and its not ideal to run without the bridge.

Any ideas folks?

Yup sounds like the bridge is a duffer.

E-mail your mobo manufacturer they'll prolly send you a new one out for free.

If not it is going to be a case of blagging from someone who has one spare...

If you had the SLI bridge stored for awhile before using it - especially if it got pushed around a bit its quite likely the bridge is duff...

It was a new board last week so its not really been doing much.

I'll email gigabyte and see what they say :)

Mite as well post a want in MM while im at it

Hmm well ive been having a bit more of a play and i decided to try a single card in the lower of the PCI-E slots. Was fine until it got to the deep freeze test, where it proceeded to lock up, so now im wondering if my mobo could be duff :(

EDIT : I installed XP on a spare drive just to make sure it wasnt an OS problem and get problems in XP as well.
