US: Star Crossed

first episode wasn't too bad for a 'pilot' episode in my opinion, it has potential to be pretty good (has an alien nation vibe to it) or complete mindless drivel (it's on cw) though.

"About an epic romance between a human girl and an alien boy when he and eight others of his kind are integrated into a suburban high school 10 years after they landed on Earth and were consigned to an internment camp"

Roswell again ?

Do the aliens have special powers ?

Having watched roswell (yeah don't ask me why I did...) I can say from the first episode there is very little resemblance to roswell in my opinion, other than there are aliens, there will be alien/human romance and it's on earth with a school involved....

If I was to describe it based on the first episode... take defiance/almost human set designs and mash them together with an alien nation character vibe then throw in romeo and juliet.

Do the aliens have special powers.... yes/no but I'm not saying anything as it's a key part of the first episode.

but that still sounds like roswell ;)

Thought it was poor. Unoriginal, cliched and dull.

Adding to this, it was horrendously poorly written and acted by essentially everyone. The painfully stupid tech/future stuff thrown in seemingly on a low budget, kinda felt like Eureka in that sense. It made no sense and was painfully stupid.

They had them line up INSIDE the school with army personnel with guns, inside the school, marching up and down.... it was just stupid. The token male friend(who will no doubt secretly love her and she'll miss it forever, then he'll hook up with her other friend who gets no attention.....) who is a truly awful actor.

Nothing at all redeeming about it.

I'll stick with it for several more episodes to see how bad it gets like Black Sails.
That Helix seems pretty poor at the moment, if 108 doesn't excite me then I'm not bothering with it.

we clearly have different memories of what roswell was about :o

I see what you mean about the alien nation/defiance factor... but as you put it nicely, alien romance set in high school which is really Roswell all over again:D

Hopefully it does not turn out like this with the alien nation factor thrown in... I want an alien war :p

Based on some of the comments made by the characters in the first episode there is a 'remote' possibility that there will be a 'war'... well depending on how heavily it's based on romeo and juliet there could at least be a bit of shooting at each other lol

Oh and I associate roswell with the diner not the school, so roswell is a romance in a diner :p

Why are people comparing it to Roswell.... aliens themselves are pretty meaningless. The show is about everyone knowing their are aliens and them trying to integrate.... Roswell is nothing like this. Roswell was about three aliens doing their best to hide who they are, the fundamental premise is entirely different.

Also Roswell had actors and actresses... not some pretty people doing something that certainly doesn't count as acting. Roswell also appeared to have actual writers, not just chimps with type writers.

Pilot was alright, certainly worth watching a few more episodes before writing it off. If the main story continues like the first half of the pilot it could become really good with human and alien interacting more frequently, questioning social impacts and maybe even an uprising if the aliens aren't given more freedoms. If that is the main plot I could live with the love story side though I fear the love story will be the main plot :( Got ep2 to watch so see from there.

Edit: Dimple, that bad? Afraid to watch it now haha.

Just watched 102 and I don't know whether I'll watch 103
yeah for some reason 102 just wasn't quite right, almost felt like they tried to jam too much into 1 episode... I wouldn't be surprised if it was meant to be multiple episodes.

I'll probably still watch 103 though.

Watched episode 2 they did cram quite a fair amount into it... and as predicted its building up to the aliens vs humans bit.

Ill give it a few more episodes, its all about true detective and banshee right now:)
