Obsession can be a very dangerous thing. Just ask Tony Alleyne, a British man who converted his entire apartment into a replica of the starship Voyager. What began as a simple weekend project converting his refrigerator into a faux warp coil became an all-out compulsion to create a totally immersive Star Trek environment after his wife left him (apparently because of the refrigerator thing). Alleyne's project won him international recognition when he listed his apartment for sale for $2 million on eBay. The flat never sold, but it did get lots of media coverage, including an appearance in the documentary Trekkies. Unfortunately, starships ain't cheap. Alleyne racked up 100,000 pounds of credit card debt financing his endeavor and has now filed for bankruptcy. So you might get yet another chance to bid on the apartment after all.
