Star Trek Online

Er im totally lost here. Are you guys talking about the lifetime sub? I thought it was just a one off payment?

No, the 12 month sub. The lifetime sub is a one off payment.

You have the 12 month sub - rebills you every 12months (including the discount). Gives you the ability to pay for a year at a time and cancel if you wish at the end of the year.

Then there is the lifetime sub - one off payment, lasts until the servers close.

AAAAH Sorry I misread your comment :)

But what do you mean by re-charge?
Can you cancel it so that it effectively "pauses" your sub?

You can cancel it, but I don't think you would be able to still get the 12month with discount again. I think you would have to keep paying it once a year e.g. a direct debit type thing.

Sorry, I meant rebill - I basically made up my own word :)

AFAIK if you purchase the yearly sub now you get a decent dicount over what you would pay on 1,3 and 6 month sub. If you let it renew automatically at the end of the year you keep that price and that discount.
However I believe if you cancel and come back you will have to sign up on the normal 1,3 or 6 month subscription.

Hehe ^ :p

Anyone know how much exactly we get charged for the yearly? At current exchange rates you're looking around £90 for the yearly sub and £106.12 for 2X6 month subs.

You know, if I find myself playing it for a year, I can definitely say that I would probably be playing it for the life of the game.

And therein is my dilemna

I would really like to get some sleep - but my neighbour has his tv on really loud. I have seen this kind of server crash before with CO, might not be up for hours and hours yet.

Sods law that it happens on a Saturday night when there's bugger all on telly/t'internet. Old episodes that i missed of Dexter will do in the mean time i think.

When did that change.

I think it is more that federation cruisers can't use all cannons. I know a couple of the Heavy Cannons I had on my Escort in beta couldn't be fitted on a cruiser. Yet the disrupter cannons I have on my miranda work fine at the moment. (well they would if the server wasn't down again)

Miranda's aren't really crusiers. Once you actually start choosing ships only escorts can equip cannons as Federation.

aye starter ships dont really count, otherwise there would be no point whatsoever in the federation playerbase being able to attain the mark 2 cannons/dual cannons/turrets etc etc

Ah damn, I went with tactical and was planning on cruiser. But just figured that I need lt cmdr or cmdr BOs to teach them the level III abilities, like beam overload or high yield, I thought that a lt. could learn the level III skills.

Looks like I'm going escort then.

Edit - Should say I would be able to teach them, but I wouldn't be able to use them as I would only have access to the Lt. (maximum in a cruiser) tactical abilities.

If you PvP a fair bit then a tactical cruiser can be a benefit. Being on the other side the vast majority of cruisers that we come up against are Engineer captains which means we very very rarely open out of cloak on one unless we have a really good team including a very good sci captain. Then we do it simply because we can. But for the vast majority of PvP the targets on our side (can only say for the team i play with) tend to be the sci vessel that we know is a good player followed by the escorts then any remaining sci vessel and cruisers last.

If you're offensive in a cruiser you can be dishing out tonnes of damage without us expecting it.

It doesn't work out that way in pugs though, most KDF pugs are so unorganised that each member will be targetting a different vessel unless you instruct them otherwise. I dunno what it is with Klingon, very few ever want to take charge, suggest targets or even uncloak first. I ended up uncloaking first loads last night in my puny sci BoP last night, quick salvo, hy torps, evasive maneuvers+full power to engines and hope some of the feds chased me and broke up the ball lol.

Always been the case. I meant to say Escorts.

AFAIK you can use lvl 2 cannons on the higher cruisers, but I cba to test that when I got the 4 tail in beta. Didnt figure 145dpa 45o was going to be worth talking about vs the V common phasers you can buy from the starbase at the Romulan border.
