Yeah keeps crashing every now and again. Its a beta can't expect anything less can you? haha.

For those of you who dont have a key, I just got mine doing the following:

Step 1. go to http://www.startrekonline.com/betacard and log in

Step 2. type in the beta key area. JIH MUSHA SOH

Step 3. Click Submit

Step 4. You'll have the Wrath of Kahn Admiral's Uniform gifted to your account!

Fresh beta account just for you.

Occasionally only away missions. Of all the crashes I have only ever had one lock up my computer. If it keeps happening it may be worth posting on the official forums. Either way, I always skip the file verification since it never finds anything wrong!

Admittedly I've never been a fan of instancing in MMOs and generally prefer non-instanced MMOs so I may be a bit biased, but it often feels that I spend 50% of my game time staring at loading screens. I think that will merely serve to seriously rub me up the wrong way.

Hopfully they will hide all the loading screens with cunning cinematics later.

Are the pre-order bonuses codes not unique then? Or will you only have the wrath of khan uniform for the duration of the beta?

must be the worst mmo for loading screens imo

The problem is 50% server speed and 50% PC speed. I too was sick of the loading screens, which is why I bought my SSD a few days ago. I boot from it and STO on there. Now only get loading screens 4-5 seconds maximum. Much better and a huge improvement over my other hard drive!

The loading IMHO lets this game down for me, a lot of potential but the loading is already starting to get on my nerves, might be one of them games to come to once its matured on the market for a bit (if it survives).

Just done this, but how can I be sure that my account now has access to the beta? Don't really want to download 6 gig to be told I then can't play ;[

It should say in your activated products within your account on the web site something along the lines of "Star Trek Online - Preorder".

Same here Rave, my "actual" load time is like 1-2 seconds

The big hold up on loads atm is the server lag, which should hopfuly be fixed soon.

Hmm tried the trick, and on my account page now there's a section for STO, and under that it states "activated features" and uner that "wrath uniform".

So I think that's all that's been added to my account, not the actual game?

It is Star Trek and is getting quite good financial backing from Atari. It will at least last a number of years. I think a lot of people will go down this route. Problem is, the more people that do this the less likely it is that these changes will get made.

I still havnt got around to playing it myself, although Ive downloaded the client.. A few of my friends have wth that method though, so im 99% certain it wrks.
