Hey guys, i'm interested in reading the main story arcing plot in Star Wars, but i don't know where to start.

What i'm interested in reading is the main story after Return of the Jedi, but i'm not interested in the spin off's like Han Solo's stories and anything that doesn't consist of Luke restoring the Jedi order. Which i think is the main story arc.

Thanks.

As I remember stuff like Truce at Bakura, Shadows of the Empire, Thrawn Trilogy and the New Jedi Order series would probably be good books to read then as they follow the general story, they dont always focus on the Jedi, but they do cover why things are the way they are.

A lot of the expanded universe is actually quite relevant after the films for your focus, as most of them will at least feature what you want even if they don't focus on it.

Someone who's read the books in the last half a decade will probably come along with a much better listing though :)

I read quite a lot of them which were all post Return of the Jedi. a lot of them were quite good/fun to read if you're into that sort of thing. I bought a whole box of them from ebay for £40. I should probably sell them on and let some other nerdy teenager enjoy them as I did.

Personally I really enjoyed the Xwing series. Generally I found the books my Michael Stackpole and Aaron Allston to be the best. The Thrawn series is good mainly because Thrawn is such a good baddy, and the New Jedi order series was also pretty good.

I started on the X-Wing books as my first foray into the SW EU, and they got me hooked, Stackpole's series is magnificent. If all you're interested in is Luke's plotline though, I agree with what's been said above, and personally, I really enjoyed the New Jedi Order (19 novels), Legacy of the Force (9 novels) and Fate of the Jedi (9 Novels) series of novels. I actually haven't read the Jedi Academy trilogy which is a travesty as it has a lot of background for the stuff I've read, mostly with the "next generation" of skywalker's/solo's, and is meant to be a great read (even though the Mara Jade fans hate them...).

Anyway, follow the timeline as said above and you won't go wrong. Start with Zahn's fantastic Thrawn trilogy and go from there! Enjoy, and keep us updated :)
