Ive just ordered all the the star wars films on dvd it only cost me £54.96, and when they arrive probably monday or tuesday ill sit down and watch them all in order. Ive seen them all but there just classics and each one gets better. Its true aswell, cause come on phantom menace was pretty bad then finaly return of the jedi simply amazing.
Which star wars film do you wreckon is the best and why?
If you say Phantom Menace plz say why :p
 
Empire Strikes Back 4tw, i was dreading episode 3 after menace and clones but i came away feeling it's right up there with ESB and ANH. Cant touch the origonals but im biased, i was sat there watching starwars when it came out, you cant describe the atmosphere that film generated unless you were actually there.
 
The Empire Strikes Back... such a good film. Return of the Jedi is good, but it's just too kiddie with the ewoks.

None of the last three cartoons claiming to be films are better than the originals. Even if you think Jedi is too kiddie it's better than Sith.

Cookie-Monster has got it right.

I enjoy watching Revenge of the Sith more than Jedi, though I'll say they're more tied on my chart than any other film.

Hell, it's all one big film anyway......

The phantom menace isn't particuarly good, but its nowhere near as bad as people make out.

The empire strikes back for the win!

Sith was by far the worst for me
 
I'd say:

New Hope
All the rest

New Hope stands out because it was something so new. The story is nothing more than a fairy story set in space, however it had enough going for it to make it something special.
All six films interact with one another well - it cannot have been easy to make three films based before an original trilogy and keep it historically correct so that references made still stick.

All this "Originals are the only ones I'll recognise" rubbish - b'ah, move on.
The story was a lot more complex in the newer films.
Sit back and realise exactly what happened in the latest trilogy, how one man went from being part of a republic to being a dictator through a series of mis-direction etc.
It's a lot more complex than bad Vs evil, evil loses and the cuddly Ewoks dance around on screen.
 
As a 32 year old who grew up with the originals...

1.) Empire Strikes back
2.) Revenge of the Sith
3.) A New Hope
4.) Return of the Jedi
5.) The Phantom Menace
6.) Attack of the Clones

Empire is still the best. Sith is fantastic and actually managed to live up to expectations (for me anyway). New Hope is great, but looking very old now. Jedi is pretty weak apart from the last 30 brilliant mins which save it from disaster. Menace has actually got better with age and actually works better now you can see it along side the others as Lucas intended. Clones has its moments, but is let down by the dodgy romance scenes. They're all great tho :)

EDIT: Actually, what am I saying??? I'm not 32 for another couple of weeks. Phew :p

I loved the Star wars films, and sure ESB and ANH are the best two, but the prequels arn't as bad as people make them out to be in my opinion. Revenge of the Sith is very well done, but should have had some more rebellion scenes and some confronation between Palpatine and Padme, and Padme's death sucked. She should have been killed by Sidious, then he blame it somehow on the Jedi. That death by Sidious would have represented the death of democracy.

Attack of the Clones isn't all that great, but it tells a story and is watchable. A story that had to be told, and a necessary part of the star wars story.

As for TPM. Only problems with this is the planet core scene, Jar Jar, and lack of Maul talking. I loved Neeson in this, as well as the Palpatine/Sidious character, and Im one of the few who likes Anakin in this film. I love that a lot of the film is set on Tattoine and once again a great story is being told. I love Naboo and all the fancy environments, which are necessary to show what the galaxy was like before the Empire came along and messed thigns up resulting in the style and stuff you have in the OT.

Although I got to be honest, I do think the character of Palpatine was the best character in the PT and now one of my favourties in the whole saga.
