Hi. I have seen THIS on ebay and was wondering if they are dodgy? I don't think the complete series has been released in the UK yet has it? £19.99 seems too good a price for all the DVD's.
 
Yes, it's dodgy. The wording of the advert says it all.
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IF YOU WENT INTO HMV TO BUY THIS BECAUSE THE QUALITY IS UNQUESTIONABLE, ITS SPOT ON.

In other words, it's pirated but looks as good as if you bought the DVDs.

There isn't even an episode 1-3 box set out yet.

How about THIS ? Maybe they have been officially released in Asia?
 
this is why i never buy DVDs from ebay. they're really good copies, and quite well put together (some of them) but they're fake a lot of the time and it's not a risk i'm willing to take.

If they had been released officially we'd have heard about it. That ebayer is making a packet from selling just those DVDs, and the claim that they're not copied is moot because all that means is that they've probably bought the discs as they are. Yes, they didn't copy them but they're still pirated. I've no doubt they're just direct copies of the DVD films that have been packaged very nicely.

Bargain :D I just bought some for £23.99 inc P&P. The box set that comes out here is likely to be near on £100 I would have thought.
 
Not really a bargain, they are pirates and as such absolutely worthless.


The way I look at it, any DVD set on Ebay is automatically suspect until checked thoroughly - whilst there are legitimate DVD sets, and sellers there most are pirates in my experience (for some titles it can be as low as 1-2% being legitimate).

But if there is no noticeable difference in quality why pay more? I hate pirates, but if I'm going to save £60ish quid then I'm afraid this is my priority.
 
To anyone who purchases this - well done, once again you've aided piracy.
It is one thing to download movies, music and games you are not entitled to.
This is theft, you are a thief.....
However by purchasing this item and many things like it you are actually lining the pocket of a thief...do you really have no morals?

If such a boxed set existed we would know about it.
The wording of the ad makes it clear you're buying pirate.
"Released in Asia" = Pirate

Lets not turn this into a thread on piracy.
You know why you shouldn't buy it.
Simply put - you are buying illegal copies of a film.
What you've purchased is worthless you are no better than the thieving scum who pirated it in the first place.
So why give that scum money - just download the things yourself if you're going to thieve them.

Please keep in mind there are also a lot of legitimate asian releases, dont blanket everything with that comment.

However on eBay the boots stick out a mile.
 
Just to revive this.......does anyone have any information as to when there will be an official release of an episodes 1-6 box set? Im hoping it will be like a LOTR extended edition style box set with several dvds to each film?

Maybe some of the OcUK crowd have grown up over the years...
 
My guess would be next year tbh.

30th anniversary of A New Hope - also HD-DVD/BR will be available and cheaper and hopefully it'll have a DVD and a HD release.

Hmm, I'm not convinced to the quality of ebay pirate DVDs. A lot of the far east ones seems to be DVD-9s compressed down to fit on a much cheaper DVD-5. The quality reduction is significant.

Buyer beware IMO.

Although I picked up a legal Region 3 copy of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance off of wow and that was letter-boxed, interlaced and DVD-5. Pretty disappointing.

No - I was answering the OP question - "Is this dodgy?" which it obviously is.
If you're on about my comment on "Released In Asia=Pirate" - that was never posted to provoke any arguments.

However you'll see that 99% of people who are justifying themselves by selling obviously illegal and copied DVD's do so by claiming all they do is buy them in from Asia and resell them.
