My thoughts, as a games fan it looks bloody awesome. As a star wars fan WTF. BS, way to trample over the whole star wars universe.
Danny have you watched all the WebDocs about it? where they justify and explain the reasoning about the story? Approved and suggestions by George Lucas, so it can't be that far out

I've read/own just about every star wars novel in existence. As the story goes Luke is the most powerfull jedi in history. Yet an apprentice to vader is stopping a star destroyer. Picking up groups of stormtroopers and ragdolling them around. A group of jedi tried to turn a star destroyer in the jedi academy trilogy and the excertion killed the jedi they focused through.
All of a sudden you can't just magic out of thin air this dark apprentice with 50 times the power of any other known force user.
Anyway wtf does lucas know about approving suggestions or writing good star wars. All the best ones he didnt write or get near. He even crapped all over the expanded universe stories. About 10 years various writers put into building the story and character of Han and leias youngest kid. The plot of about 50 books woven with the kids growth. Then Lucas decides he has to go because he has the same name as Anakin in his crappy trilogy.
As I said this game looks the nuts, but then many star wars games do. I just think they have gone OTT.

TBH I didn't think about all that (never read a Star Wars book, and only consider the original trilogy as proper Star Wars films).
Maybe they should have gone with their original "Super" Wookie game, maybe more acceptable to the hardcore fans?
Anyway, back on topic, this might well be the first ever game I pre-order

just found this video, which is bsaically a stitch up of other videos. looks pretty damn impressive. especially when reading up they are combining 3 differant physics engines.

I couldn't have put it better myself. If they do the same to Jacen in Legacy then there will be trouble. Lucas has TOO much to answer for due to his meddling over the years. The man is a balloon!

At the end of the day Lucas probably feels that Star Wars is his baby and he can do what he wants with it. Although I agree that he should sometimes just leave stuff alone.
With regards to Luke being the most powerful Jedi ever, wasn't this Sith apprentice not supposed to be a complete secret which only Vader knows about?

The expanded universe explains that vader was training himself to use the force to stay alive without his mask. Growing stronger to surprise the emperor amd kill him.
The emp was a step ahead of him and was already training another.
Yoda had to hide on a planet full of life to hide himself from the force. Yet we are supposed to believe this guy so powerfull he can stop a Star Destroyer and toss around Stormies like rag dolls was supposed to exist and fit into a story where no one has got near those abilities.
Atleast with Kotor and Jedi Academy they kept it in check. Although the game looks awesome I dont think just for the game they should throw in someone so powerfull when it doesn't fit.
Whilst Im happy you are all taking a computer game so seriously, it does have to be said, its just a game spin off of a film. They are not looking to forward the plot of star wars, just create an arbitrary situation where they can show off their new physics engine.

Exactly, the one from Half Life 2, and if you look at the vids, it looks like the last level of HL2 with a SW skin on.
HL2- Pick up people like ragdoll with the mavity gun and shoot them through glass.
Shoot electric beam from mavity gun
Pick up crates with grav gun and fire them at people
SWFU- Pick up people like ragdoll with force and shoot them through glass

you have obviously not been exposed to the revolutionary 3 way environment system. Sometimes the storm trooper holds on to a foot! a foot!
Sure its not new to the industry but im fairly sure its the first star wars game, Star wars has always had that massive gap to fill in using the force to chuck stuff about.
I digest*, the game will prob be very good.
