US, November 15, 2006 - Today LucasArts announced a Star Wars: The Best of PC compilation. This surprise compilation is scheduled to be released this month and will only be available through the 2006 holiday season for a suggested price of $39.99.

Star Wars: The Best of PC features five popular Star Wars branded PC titles all in one box. Included in the compilation are:

Star Wars: empire at War,

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic,

Star Wars Battlefront,

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast,

Star Wars Republic Commando.

In addition to these five games, a 14-day trial of the MMORPG, Star Wars Galaxies, is also included in the package.

"Hundreds of hours of Star Wars gameplay, spanning many different genres, can be found in Star Wars: The Best of PC, making it the perfect holiday gift for any Star Wars fan, or any PC gamer," said Nancy MacIntyre, of LucasArts. "Every kind of gameplay is available in The Best of PC, from fast-paced action, to tactical, real-time strategy, to engaging role-playing. It's all here, it's all PC, and it's all Star Wars."

£30 coming out at xmas time. Huge SW fan and haven't got any of these games, looks like it could be worthy of my pennies and time.

What you think, there is so many SW games out there, are these ones the good ones?

The best of PC!?!? are lucasarts stupid or something, any best of PC box set that includes republic commando and not tie fighter or x-wing doesn't deserve my money.

Star Wars: empire at War - not bad

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - got already

Star Wars Battlefront - rubbish

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast - not even jedi academy?

Star Wars Republic Commando - rubbish

Might be worth getting if you've not played any of them, but i think you'd be better off buying cheap copies of kotor 1 and 2, you'll have a much better time playing and will save money too.

There are a couple iffy titles in there, but some fairly decent ones too and for 30 bucks it aint to bad. They really have missed out some absolute classics though, no x-wing / Tie or even alliance. Also don’t understand why outcast is there instead of academy, bit strange.

Empire at war is ok at best, not a patch on DOW or COH, the only reason I semi enjoyed it was because of the Star Wars setting.

KOTOR is an absolute classic, one of the best games I have ever played. The second one is also good but for me it didn’t grip me the same as the first one, still good mind you.

Battlefront is a steaming pile of dog poo in my opinion, didn’t like it at all, its also fairly old now and with the release of the second one you may have trouble finding servers, may be wrong though as I have not checked for ages.

Outcast is another classic, takes a while to get going but once you get your saber it just gets better and better. To be honest thought Jedi academy should be in there instead I think, overall I’d say it was a better game and its also newer.

Republic commando is actually quite good, the team system works well and it’s a pretty slick well made game. Good fun to play through, not a classic but its decent.

It could be worth getting if you don’t own any of them but that pack will leave you with one really crud game and a mediocre one. If I were you I would search around and try and pick them up individually. Get KOTOR 1 and 2, Jedi Outcast and Academy then you will have 4 classics to play though and you won’t have any crappy titles like battlefront. I would also recommend hunting around for X-Wing Alliance or possibly Tie Fighter and X-Wing, bear in mind they are old games now but they are in my opinion two of the best Star Wars games to be released, especially Tie Fighter.

battlefront is a great game imo if you have someone to play with e.g. your brother. it has provided me with many hours of fun and the only reason i stopped playing is because battlefront2 came out which is like a million times better and like everyone is saying get the game individually, and battlefront 2 should be high on your list as its a great fun game.

OT: does anoyne know of battlefront 3? would be amazing on xbox360 and ps3. Hope they put more into the game if there is another, always felt like there should be double the amount of levels and more mission based levels. such as defend a bridge, take over the base etc etc

Don't know how you can call Republic Commando rubbish, one of the better sci-fi fps's I played. The atmosphere is amazing, the voice acting excellent, and some of the set piece firefights just stunning.

Some of the weapons feel a bit weedy, but it's well worth a look regardless.

Thought Republic Commando was quite good, kept me entertained for a while anyway. Seems strange to put Outcast and Battlefront in, when the sequels were better. KOTOR was amazing, one of the best games i've played and Empire at War was pretty good i thought, better rts out there but worth a go i think.

Regarding Battlefront 3, rumor has it Free Radical (Goldeneye, Timespliters series) have got the license and are making a new game for next gen consoles. No offical word yet though.

Favourite bit in republic commando was getting shot and having to lie there with blurred vision hoping one of your squad could get to you to revive you. That and hearing "Aw, there he goes again!" in an australian accent when it happened :)

Ok it wasn't bad, but if i want a great FPS experience i play hl2 or COD, republic commando only stood out because of the star wars setting, and otherwise would've been a standard run of the mill FPS with a few nice touches that other games do much better, if you want atmosphere get COD, gamepley get hl2, or sci-fi get riddick, all are much better games.

It certainly doesn't deserve to be in a 'best of PC' pack when they've missed out on some absolute classics.

For the same price of this pack you can get kotor 1+2 and jedi knight 2+3, plus x-wing/tie fighter if you can a copy floating around. I'd rather do that than play some games that were pretty standard affairs made slightly better by the license.

what no x-wing/tie games, hardly the best now is it, not to mention they put a swg trial in there, possibly now the worst game LA ever put their name and licensing against now

I'll prolly get it simple because I can't find KOTOR anywhere else brand new, shame Jedi Acedemy isn't in there though.

Galatic Battlegrounds deserves to be on there, thats the best star wars game I've ever played :D.

I guessed it wasn't going to be the best 5 in the pack, its would be daft of them to do so, but is it a good starter for £30?

Yey or ney? :D

Yey, most of the games in the pack are great apart from BattleFront imo.

To be honest the only game on that list I would call a genuine classic is KOTOR. Battlefront sold very well I think, but why not BF2? Jedi Outcast is also inferior to Jedi Academy in my view, although I know others on here feel differently.

When I read the title I was expecting a megapack like C&C: The first decade, so this is somewhat disappointing. They should have bumped the price up to $50 and included some X-wing, Tie-fighter, Rebel Assault, Dark Forces etc plus JA, KOTOR2 and BF2. As it stands most people who would be interested in this probably already own at least a couple of the titles.

Makes me wonder if we'll see another 'limited edition' multipack rolled out sometime. The cynic in me suggests that this is just another attempt to push Galaxies.

If you get KOTOR, get the sequel...i think its only £15 maybe even £10 from most stores and websites. Some say its not as good as the first one, but i think its just very much different. Its not a continuation, but totally different. However you must play KOTOR1 first...as there are some things in 2 you will not understand.

Best 2 games I have played, very replayable.
