StarCraft (2030 Launch)

SC2 is better than any C&C game... there, I said it.

And its free to play ATM (not the expansions though)

give it a shot!

Silly aliens though. I think the reason I liked C&C, AOE etc was it was at least based on reality (obv not so much with C&C). Didn’t have to work out what a zippyzappy alien does or is strong against because we all know what a flamethrower/grenadier etc is.
Then again I like DoW but I like 40K as a setting.
I might try it, but nothing from what I’ve seen appeals.

Possibly heavily influenced because C&C was the first rts I played and was a huge part of my game time growing up.

Best part is the campaigns, SC2's campaign isn't free.

Best thing was one of the mini games, marine arena.. I guess that’s free as its a multiplayer only mode?

I quite liked Left 2 Die, think that is what it was called, and the mission it was based off.

And even less so Red Alert, which I preferred to original C&C.......and let's not mention C&C4.

If I had to choose one over the other, it would definitely be the StarCraft series, maybe it's the setting or the unit variation between the factions, certainly, SC has a stronger story than C&C.

Never played 4, series was dead to me by then. Don’t play the games for the story tbh. I’m not going to change my mind, I mean I didn’t even blink when the hype of sc2 was there for its launch. Just saw the units/setting and clicked X.

I was like that initially.

Then you realise a lot more variation can be done with different alien races instead of just a rocket guy, rifleman and flamethrower.

Starcraft 2 even the way the 3 races ‘construct’ their base / build is different.

Differing hugely whilst also be well balanced. Its quick enough to learn the different abilities (and what counters what) but there are lots so its quite a steep learning curve.

Worth it though and replays really help.

Give this a watch (or any of his videos) this is a modded version of the game pros are currently playing.
