Starcraft

Hi all,

I've just been playing C&C and I really fancy playing another RTS.

Years ago I played starcraft from a demo disc and I was just wondering if anyone still plays it and if so how does it run on more powerful machines?
That goes for the older C&C games too.

The reason I ask is I tried playing the first Commandos recently and it's unplayable due to a sort of fast forwarding effect which I guess is down to my computer being quicker than when the game was developed. I've noticed this in the original GTA too.

Starcraft only runs at 800x600, boooooooo!

Not even, try 640x480

. Still works perfectly on whatever machine you can lay your hands on, at least to my knowledge.

GTA has a framelimiter, hit F7 or something like that.

starcraft runs on anything that isnt broken...even vista (its not broken before the anti vista bregade get here) at some low res, but meh its still a legendary RTS and great fun

Guys I can’t remember if this is just over LAN, where you could have a base and it gets flooded by enemy and you have to spam as many guns etc to defend your base? It’s been ages since I played starcraft!

did some1 remake starcraft in the warcraft 3 engine? think i read it in pc gamer once. will try and look it up

Also sounds a little like one of the early terran missions in the original campaign. Not sure how far in, but it's before you get to use siege tanks for the first time iirc.

it wasn't OMFGTHEZERGLINGS was it, where theres hordes of ever harder zergling and you have to hold out for 30 minutes or something? if so, firebats for the win! (played starcraft for many years, disappointed that blizzard have totally neglected the game in favour of its really terrible brother, warcraft, shame on you!)
