Anyone play this? Is it a single player game mostly? From what I can tell its a RTS like cnc?

Worth taking a look at?

The original Starcraft is an RTS which came out in 1998. Its widely considered one of the best RTS ever, and is still played nationally in Korea and other countries, Korea almost elevating it to thier megabowl status.

Its a very very balanced game, and has a fun story mode, and is still played by thousands on Battlenet. If you like RTS and get past the low graphics, its a great game.

I still play Starcraft and Starcraft Broodwar from time to time, they are excellent games true classics and Starcraft II looks simply stunning  more info here

StarCraft is the most popular and most well balanced online RTS out there. You will simply not find a better or bigger community for competitive tournament RTS play. Try it out, but I have never played single player so I couldn't comment on that aspect.

Big ass thread there on starcraft 2. I played starcraft almost religiously for 3 years. As for the sequel? "Well... it's about time."

I've started to play StarCraft again recently, my what an aweseome game it is :D

I've not played C&C3, but comparing to the other C&C games, it's similar in the way that you mine resources, and build units to attack the enemy. It's unit capped based on the amount of farms you have (or whatever they're called). It plays like Warcraft, but you've probably not played that.

It's something different, but when you get used to it, it's all good :)

Just because you can rush doesn't mean its imbalanced. It would only be imbalanced if one side had a distinct power advantage early on - which, from what I've played of it, they don't

Its still a great game, and is fantastic to drop on a low-spec laptop for playing while your at work :P

Starcraft is the most finely tuned and perfect RST availible. The race options are so perfectly balanced that it is one of the few games that actually relies on Micro-management to win over a good opponent.

It also pays well to learn where to place buildings and which units complement each other (devourers and mutilisks par example). Silly things ilke that. I found with most other RTS it's just a case of drag/highlight, select attack, click other side of map. Not with SC (well you can, but you'll have a hard time against good players)

Its better than any C&C game imo but I would say its far from balanced.

Still possible to rush if you know the correct build pattern.
You amuse me :)

It is by far the most balanced RTS so far. Period.

I've never understood peoples issue with rushers. You're not meant to have massive armies, you're meant to have many small skirmish teams acting from the word go, constantly harassing your opponent and scouting the terrain.

People who complain about rushers don't understand the game at all. If someone rushes you then you will have more troops because of the time it takes to traverse the map.

Starcraft is amazing, as is Warcraft 3.
I hate WC3.
