Starfield VR Mod Early Look

Nearly six minutes in and there has been around 10 seconds of actual information relating to the mod so far...
stereoscopic rendering 3dof head tracking not 6dof... buggy... camera messes up if you look around too far, motion controls are very limited and controllers emulate xbox controller and limited gestures.

Entire video could have been a text.

Not played it, a specialised VR mod for a big name & popular game must be a positive surely? (assuming it won't turn out to be rubbish)

inital reddit thread doesnt feel me with to much positive expectations from what i would hope from the mod but lets see. it is early days and something to follow in 2025 :)

I've tried an early version of Mutar's mod and it's terrible. They have a long, long way to go to make it playable, let alone visually comfortable.

However... there is a leaked mod floating about and it is incredible! To be clear - it's leaked so use as your conscience will allow. Someone posted it on archive.org. Search for "starfield VR mod" and you should be able to locate it.

I couldn't find anything, I didn't look for long, only after info tbh. If it's eventually going to be available as a proper mod it's probably worth waiting for. Would love to know more about it.

Look harder. It's there. I just tried.

I heard that there is no plan to release this mod. The developer halted apparently. It only works with a 2023 version of Starfield. But I've played through the entire game with it and it's astounding nonetheless.

Wow thanks for this fellas, will look into it more.

Any more general info about it as there are zero details on the internet archive page?

The .txt file in the archive explains step-by-step how to install an old version of SF. With my 4090 I get decent performance but set everything to "low", turn on VRS, set to CAS and upscaling to 85%.

Brilliant, going to give this a go later today. 'Only' got a 3090 at the moment so a bit worried performance will be cack as the RE2 mod runs like *******. Got my eyes on a 50 series upgrade soon though, mostly due to VR. Almost wish I'd never got into VR now, life would be a lot less expensive...

Edit - managed to get it working somehow, but as feared the performance is unplayable on a 3090. With 50%(!) scaling and all low settings I can barley get 45fps and it looks absolutely terrible as a result. It also has awful 'ghosting' / 'double vision' going on around characters and your hands? Any tips to remove this?

If I get a 5090 I may give it a go. Also, how is this using the UEVR mod, when it's not a UEVR 4 or 5 engine game?

Pass.
I was really looking forward to Starfield, being a Skyrim In Space sort of thing, but just trying to get through the first couple of main story missions highlighted how awfully clunky everything was. Cutscenes and cutscreens, with unintuitive UIs no obvious tutorial recap and questionable plot just put me right off it.
I don't think the visuals and possibility of VR do much to make up for the downsides...

I actually really enjoyed the main story and the ending was quite moving. I quite like the game mechanics in VR and the exploring aspect is a lot of fun. To each his own...
