Stargate Worlds

It looks terrible from what I've seen. They had a whole little developer discussion trailer on the explosion effects, and it looked like something out of a PS1 game. I was embarassed and cringing all the way through it.

Not sure what you're on about as this explosion looks pretty good...

I am a bit unsure about the game as a whole though, it could be good but i doubt it will be more than your average mmo, i hope it does ok though as the fans deserve some kind of game after all these years, they should have just made a good fps and/or strategy by now, i think theres so much they could do with the stargate universe that its such a shame its taken this long for us to even see anything and the game is not even out yet either so thats always a concern, wish there were at least some good stargate mods around!

I thought the game had stopped being developed. Money i think.

Im pretty sure they're still working away on it, remember they have mgm's backing and stargate has its new show just starting.

Haven't heard anything from this in a while.

Is it still going to be free-to-play+micro-transaction based? As that puts me right off.

Looks pretty darn impressive to me :)

+1

I am a huge fan of the show though so hope its good.

I remember it used to be on sunday afternoons when i got home from clubbing. chillin out in bed with a bit of SG1 until sleep final set in... ah good times!!!

Thought this went the same way as Stargate Alliance.

Wish they'd do a game similar to Left 4 Dead where a team of four travel through the gate to take on some mission with the enemy team given almost an rts view of events trying to stop the human team from succeeding.

This was the last time I read anything about it.

Recently, MMORPG.com learned that Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment has received the funding that they believe will allow them to complete work on Stargate Worlds, and to eventually pay back vendors and past and present employees who are still owed back pay.

Said Cheyenne Mountain’s Shane Hensley when reached for comment, “Things are actually very good here right now. We received some funding commitments that will provide financing over time and allow us to move forward with development and start catching up on our past due financial obligations, including some back payroll that we paid last week.”

Doesn't sound too promising, missing payments to staff is pretty rock bottom for any company.

Lots of potential, because frankly when you can travel to any of thousands of worlds you can really do whatever you like with one planet without effecting the story in others. Want war of the worlds massive robots fighting on one planet on its own with farmers from the stone age in another planet, sure.

Problem is, that many planets = lots and lots of design's to make. Then you start having to limit how much you see on each planet and it starts becoming limited and needing each planet to have missions, bases to attack, obviously they could start off small and add planets/missions with ease, the expansion posibilities are literally endless.

I think the problem with doing a Startrek/Stargate type mmo is theres really too much scope, how do you choose where to go with it and how do you explain not being able to fly anywhere in the universe or not go to more than a handful of stargates.

I think both game concepts are perfect for single player, because with a very set storyline you can direct where you go and why. But I guess the idea of an MMO is go anywhere for any reason, should you want to do missions, its up to you. Lotro, WoW, are limited to certain locations, big world sure, but you don't have to explain why you can't go anywhere else.

Sorry to tell you but this game is dead, they have losts 100's and 100's of thousands of members, they only have around 20 commands, i used to have a big command waiting for the game to come out, but they deleted it due to nobody posting on it… isaid thanks a lot, what do you expect when nobody comes here anymore.,… that was the same for around 150 other commands.

They ran out of money, around 90% of their staff walked out, the staff created a website www.dayssinceCMEgotpaid.com, they are in all honesty a waste of space. They have kept members hanging on for 2 years and in that time have released 3 screenshots of dynamic lighting. There is nothing anywhere to say this game is coming out or is even back in development, you can post what you like on the forums as you'll never see an admin unless you swear. Every other post is a flame post about the state on the game. No joke game writers have been weighing in to have their say slagging off CME CEO!

And tbh as much of a huge fan of SG series and the amount of time and effort i put in to creating a guild on there…. I will not be playing the game as i can pretty much promise it will be a complete flop!!!

GUTTED!
