Well we all know Vista requires a lot of memory.

From boot up i use between 45-50% of my 2gb but if i play a game ie BF2 then close it, i have a lot more memory available, for instance i am now only using 30% after just coming out of BF2.

If i rebooted my memory usage would be 45% or more.

Vista is Pre-caching stuff to memory seeing as it would be a waist not to use available ram to speed up some tasks.
But as soon as an application needs more ram vista will hand it over & flush the Pre-cached stuff from ram.
You will see vista start to Pre-cache stuff again after you close the app.

As said above just vista being clever (or not so in some cases) dont worry about it. to be honest there is nothing you can do about it either so just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride bud
