Start Bar Disapeared!

My PC just crashed out on me and when it loaded back up my Start Bar had vanished!

I can only click on icons on my desktop and view files from My Computer.

There was also a few errors that popped up regarding my start up programs, so I reckon the crash has broke something.

Any ideas how to get my start bar back?

Oh and pressing the windows key doesn't help.

Open Task manager, Goto processes, close explorer.exe then goto run and run explorer.exe.

This might sound stupid but how do I find run if I can't see my start menu?

File > New Task (Run) in task manager

Not sure what good it'll do though if a reboot doesn't cure you.

In task manager click the "New Task..." button at the bottom of the "Applications" tab, no need to have run up.

Yeah i forgot to add that in, i couldn't think of what it was called. But yes, "New Task"

Right, it's totally died now.

Windows wont load because aparently the entire WINDOWS/system folder is corrupted and when I try to repair it with my XP disk it says there are no hard disk drives attached :S

Any ideas?

Meh, Just format it and re-install windows. Not worth the hassle of trying to repair it.

Well.. Can't you put your HDD in another PC and get it out that way?

Seems my hard drive is showing in the bios, dunno why the windows setup/repair can't detect it :confused:

Sata hard drive?

You might need to load SATA drivers from your floppy drive during the recovery process?

err yeah I think it is SATA actually.

Where can I get some drivers to put it on a floppy?

None of my other PC's have SATA capabilities
