I can get my Dad's company's computer dude to get my data off but I'd prefer to get it done myself.
Anyone know where I can get some SATA drivers to fit on a floppy?

Just get your dad's friend. Say if even after installing these sata drivers it still doesn't work.. then what. Save yourself the hassle.
Got some drivers on a floppy and managed to load up into the repair tool thing from the XP disk.
Anyway it just went to a DOS prompt with nothing about repairing the corrupted files
Gonna give it another try but if not I'll have to format.

Yeah looks like I'll have to.
This repair thing is just stupid, how am I supposed to know what to type in a DOS prompt to reapair Windows lol
It's called the recovery console and it can actually fix issues.
I always start with chkdsk /r
Have a good read of this.
Do you have another hard drive? Be it IDE or SATA you could copy the files from one disk to another, providing the other disk is formatted using the usual DOS commands.

chuck in an ide hard drive, (remove your sata for the time being) install xp on that, see if it shows the other drive when you connect it back up
if it shows it in device manager but doesn't show any partitions, then use testdisk -google it, to scan the drive for partitions
this has worked on about 10 client pc's for me

Thanks for all the help guys finally got sorted.
In the end I found an old HDD copied all my Music and Movies to that, formatted the corupt drive then put it all back on.
Only lost a few documents and pictures that were in private folders but it was the music I wanted mainly.
