start button windows 8 is back

It only takes you to the start screen the same as moving the mouse to the bottom left corner does now. Now you move to the corner and a start button pops up, with the change the start button will be there all the time in case you forgot :)

I don't think it's anything to do with speeding things up.

It's just making it more familiar again as the start button has been a constant in windows for most people for the majority of their computing experience.

It's not immediately obvious to people to move the mouse to the opposite corner of the screen to bring up the start charm, so the button is just to make it simpler for people I imagine.

I hope there's an option for the start button, because I like the way Windows 8 is set up currently, where if you have multiple monitors you can access the start menu on all of your screens by going to the bottom left corner.

However, I don't like the idea of having a start button on every taskbar across my displays, as a blank task bar looks nice and neat.

I like the idea of a boot straight to desktop option too, as it means I can easily have my HTPC boot straight to Media Portal or XBMC.

They don't need to put the start button back on the screen, it's already on the keyboard. Why would you drag your mouse all the way over to that bottom corner of the screen when you can easily and quickly press the button on your keyboard for the same effect.

I think I love you. More people need to press the windows key on their keyboards. I don't think i've clicked my start button in years :D

If they brought back the start button and the boot straight to desktop, I would consider upgrading to Win8.

Then again as a PC gamer, even if they didnt in future versions of windows, I would be forced to upgrade regardless simply for the upgraded DX version.

Sorry, but your stance is utter madness. You have to click once to get through to desktop once Win8 has booted. The boot time is far quicker as well anyway. The start button should also be made redundant as it is far quicker and easier to navigate with Metro anyway. It really is. Rather than have a list of programmes you have you have to scroll though to get what you want, you have them all nicely up as tiles with icons. Fully customizable as well.

I don't miss the start button or the classic start menu.

Got my Win8 start menu set up quite nicely with OblyTile..

i've just read these rumours too hmm not sure. Seems pointless with where microsoft seemed to be heading.

Either way I won't be using it again GOOD riddance I never used you anyway! :P
