Well... :D today i took a trip to the dump with my grampa to offload some junk and sitting next to the metal skips there was an alienware computer sitting right in the middle of 10 dead beige computers so i sayed to the guy can i take it and he sayed yeah :D.

Anyway when i got it home i had a look over it and the case is in near perfect condition and i opend it up and most things were still in it lol!! (it was raining so the case got a bit wet and the graphics card had a few drips on it.

I took everything out and let the psu dry in the sun for a good 3 hours incase any water got into it and hooked it up and jumpstarted it with a few fans and the optical drive and it works perfectly!:D but i want to test the motherboard and see if i can get anything on screen, the only thing that ive not got is memory and a hdd (must have been took out) and i was wondering if i could hook everything thats there up and see if it will post... the spec are...

Intel core 2 duo 6400 @ 2.13 Ghz
Evga 7950 GX2
Some random optical drive
Asus p5n32-SLI SE DELUXE (is it socket 775)?
Thermaltake toughpower 600W
5 120mm fans
Wireless card
Box load of LED's lol

Hopefully everything still works as i cannot test the Gfx card, wireless card, cpu because my 775 socket dell is at my dads :(, so would i be able to hook everything up and get it to post?.

You need RAM for it to boot but a HDD isn't necessary. That board takes DDR2 either try your luck raiding the tip again or just spend £20 on some generic ram to test it.

to be fair the case and PSU alone are worth shelling out £20 for so you won't be out of pocket if the rest of the parts are dead.

Hmm looks like im going to have to wait till i get home, ive got a dell xps that uses DDR2 and a old tagan pc that i can nick a hhd from :D, im hoping to maby keep this or sell it but im cleaning it all out atm and im going to go over the case with some polish and wax to make that gloss finish nice and shiny :D It wasnt really dirty to start with just a thin layer of dust covering everything, a lot cleaner than my dell :P.

That's one of hell of a spec for free if it works. Stick any DDR2 in there, even some from your current PC. As honosuseri said, no HD is required.

My bro worked at a recylcing plant and would bring home pc's & laptops all the time....amazing what people would throw away. Even the windows sticker on the back is worth something!! I managed to salvage heaps of parts for testing and build him a half decent pc too.

Hope it's all kosher.......would be quite a find if it is!

wow, nice find.

im curious why someone would just leave a box full of LEDs in there. Even if they're chucking it out why bother opening it up and putting them in there?

Theres not a box :P just the way i decribe things because there are loads of LED's! :D

Strange...

I was dropping of a load of old pc's today, and had to pick up my alienware from the repair shop after they ordered me some ram.. I think I must have dumped it by accident as it wasn't in the car when I got home ;):p

Excellent find mate. Let us know if you get it running :)

Might be good for a little mod project if you are into that sort of thing.

'Project Dump'

Well im planning a big bulid next month but its watercooling and modding but ive already bought a TJ07 :D. Im planning on getting this working and selling it for funds towards my new bulid.

Ha, if you dumped it at largs ive got your pc ;) :P

Well ive gave everything a good clean, washed inside & outside then waxed the outside ( i can see my reflection in it :D) the case is in perfect condition only a few scraches here and there but there not noticeable. Only thing left to do is test the motherboard, gpu and cup.
The Blue LED's at the front look really good and go well with the gloss black finish :D.

Very pleased with my find today :D, will be heading back to that dump on the way home to have another look because i need some bits of metal for my up comming bulid ;).
