Starting Far Cry Again... What Mods?

It is an awesome game, installed it and the 64bit patch on vista 64 yesterday, works fine :cool: but only 1 7900GTX as no SLI, still runs fine though :D Installing it now on Xp32bit and downloading 64bit update4 32bit PC's, going to install that and try it on XP32 see what the differences are, obviously it will run better on xp as ill be running SLI 4 sure :D

EDIT: Will be running 6AA and HDR7 and max AF, 7900GTX in SLI at 1920x1200 should manage that no problems :D

EDIT2:You can run HDR + AA in farcry on anything above a 6800GT apparently (not including the 6800 series)

still think it looks the best game yet and its a good few years old now aswell.

Do you mean it's the game with the best looks? I've just started it for the first time, and although I've got to give it more time, my initial feeling is it's average, particularly the AI of the 'Mercs'. Hope it gets better.

yeh it has the best looks (looks the best) agreed the AI on mercs is pretty crap but still good enough and the sounds are sometimes terrible. "How'd you like those apples" :o

There was a thread about AI recently and it made me think that there's been nothing to match Half Life all those years ago. Still remember the buzz I got from seeing my opponents acting almost like real people. I thought that was heralding a new age for AI in computer games. How wrong I was. Seems much more effort has gone into pleasing the graphics whores with games like FarCry.

Got to admit though...FarCry is beautiful and I do love the nice GFX, it's just not the be all and end all for me. Think I'll look up that realism mod and see what that's about.
 
^ yeh your right. Was it opposing force where you entered a warehouse type room at the upper level and had options to go accross a bridge, down ladders etc and the enemy was on the ground. They would try and flank you, throw grenades, split up, work in groups etc they did different things almost every time you loaded the save game aswell. Farcry has ok AI but a half life AI mod for it would be 100 times better

No you're right I can't and I didn't state any further detail. But I have played & completed it 3-4 times over and intend to go round it again when I get a chance, it's not just the graphics but also the gameplay that makes it one of my favourite games, even after all this time :)
Have to say the AI can be downright stupid though and doesn't remotely compare to HL1 or 2.
 
There's a mod over at AOAForums (google it) called RealismMod. It's basically better sounds, models, and AI tweaks. Personally, i can't tell the difference, but then again, i don't stop to smell the flowers.
 
strange. I have an x1800xt and can choose 6xaa and paradise mode. patched to 1.4

edit -nope, ive got 1.33 not 1.4. some games in multiplayer work though
