Hi guys,

Still having abit of an issue when starting up my new build sometimes. I have:

E6600
GeForce 7950GX2
P5W Deluxe (1201 BIOS)
GeIL RAM (2x1GB) 6400
Seagate 320GB HDD
SeaSonic 600W PSU

Here is the problem, when booting up (normally after shut down, not on a restart) sometimes the monitor does not receive a signal and sits there blinking away waiting for the computer, and the keyboard lights (num lock etc) don’t light up either.

Now when I unplug or even turn off the PSU and then plug in/turn on again and try start it up, there are no problems. I can only assume this is a motherboard issue… but I am not 100% sure.

Has anyone else had something like this? Or does someone have an idea of what it might be?

Thanks.

Actually (and I can foresee the comments)

I don't actually get a BIOS beep, as I don't have an internal speaker!

Mmmm #scratches head#

Firstly, I'd replace/check your monitor cable. Maybe there is a short or something or check the monitor and cable on another machine to be sure.

Next i'd check your PSU is supplying the correct voltages. Use a multimeter to check or better still, replace it with a known working one. Seasonic are pretty reliable tbh.

Other than that, it must be the motherboard. Is the CMOS keeping it's settings?

Make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.. if anything just to eliminate them.

Bit odd a new mobo not having POST beeps..

How can I check the CMOS keeps its settings? I'd expect there to be a warning if they didn't... but I'll test em anyway.

I know I have the latest offical BIOS, as I flashed it the other day to 1201.

The motherboard probably beeps, but I have no internal speaker to hear it...

Still having the same problem with getting the monitor/mouse/keyboard a signal.

But it's gone one step further, now my computer turns itself on in the middle of the night  scary!
