Startup Repair Loop Issue

I came home one day and now my laptop is in a constant Startup Repair loop whenever I try to turn it on.

When I try to perform a System Restore I just get a message saying that the restore was unsuccessful.

I have tried this tutorial but it didn't end up doing anything.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Do you know what happened to cause the initial start-up repair?

I had faulty ram in one machine which caused the repair to fail and continually loop as you described - can you rule hardware faults out?

Sounds like it could be faulty hardware..maybe RAM or HDD? I had a laptop the other day with the same symptoms and only after removing the hard drive to retrieve the data could I hear that it was making some nasty sounds.

Faulty Hw or caused by his dog?
