Right so I'm trying to repair my Windows 7 installation using the startup repair because when installing Windows onto the hard drive a while ago I did not take out my old hard drive and some installation files must have got onto the old drive because I tried taking my old hard drive out and it won't boot until I reconnect the old one back.

I tried the startup repair on the windows disc, but no hard drives come up in the startup repair window so I can't repair them.

Is there any way to get them up or is there another method to fixing my Windows installation?

I had exactly the same problem just the other day. Go into Disk management and check to ensure that the C drive is marked "Active", then it should come up in the start-up repair box and it should be then able to fix it (Well it did for me)
