I've got an old PC here running an NF-7S motherboard. I recently rebuilt it and all seemed to be working ok. I've just had it handed back to me as it's not starting up. The box fires up, but there is no life in the keyboard or monitor.

I've just noticed that the northbridge fan isn't spinning on startup, it flicks slightly and then stops. Not sure if this could be the problem?

Thanks

Yep I don't know what's going on. I replaced the northbridge fan with a fanless one and it still had problems. Would fail upto a dozen times in a row, but then would start happily as well. I read around on the net about it being possible power supply issue, but I haven't gota spare one here, only 300w without the extra 4pin plug and that didn't change anything.

I then read about dust in ram which I thought was bizarre. I took out one of the chips, gave it a blow off and put in back in, possibly a different bank and managed to successfully start it about a dozen times in a row.

I've given it back to the user now and fingers crossed it will be ok. If not, I guess I better source a new PSU.
