This is really depressing to read. Reminds me of how some people believe all JRPG's have to be real-time combat cuz turn-based(or ATB) is 'dated'. Hogwash.

Anyways, game looks amazing. I'd have picked it up already but I simply have too much on the plate as it is.

I've had this on my Steam wishlist for a while now. I will probably pick this up when I get home tonight.

Yeah whatever try playing this on a 60" Plasma with mouse + kb  the dev even said already he is looking into gamepad support on Steam forums today ;)

This game is.... Disturbing!

Think of Event Horizon, add in a mix of Aliens, then mash it together with a bit of Sanitarium and you've got this game. It's bloody, it's creepy and if you've think you've seen all the ways to die in a game this throws it at you as a gory mess.

Oh and it's GOOD but challenging :D

I have no idea what the size of your display has to do with it. I sit quite close to a 27" monitor, which is something like a 70" TV from 6ft away, so I don't really know what you're trying to get at.

I guess if there's a lot of pixel hunting(a problem in many P&C titles), then having too *small* a screen would suck, but having a larger display is nothing but beneficial in these situations.

I backed it and had a short go so far, more tonight. I love it, but I understand the graphics might be a strain for some. There is a demo still available which gives a good intro to the game, the movement was a bit flaky but is much better in the final game. It was created by one guy, and I'd imagine now it's out he will be working on enhancements. The UI is particularly basic for now, but no big deal.

The demo is here http://stasisgame.com/web/page.php?p=download

Said I didn't need anything else to play, but I bought this anyways.

Glad I did.

It really does have the classic P&C sort of difficulty. Nothing so far has been too vague or impossible to figure out, but some things definitely aren't just immediately obvious, so you will probably spend a bit of time wondering what to do at certain times, or even having to look up a hint. Which is great. That's what these games were always about. I feel the balance is just right here.

The atmosphere is fantastic. I'm enjoying reading through PDA logs to get all the story. And I usually don't care a ton for story in games, but this one presents it well and provides interesting sort of characters(even if dead) that really give you a nice sense of what has happened.

The graphics are gritty and dirty, but with a lovely art style. Definitely right up my alley in terms of the horror sci-fi stuff. I wouldn't say the game is downright scary, though. It's a horror influenced atmosphere and narrative, but I don't think the game is meant to really make you cower in fear or anything.

Don't really have much bad to say about it. This feels like it could go down as a true P&C classic so far(about 5 hours in). Loving it.

Are we not past the "begone from the PC forum with your controller nonsense!" stuff yet?

I'd personally like to play it on the couch while hugging a cushion, so I'd like controller support too :)

I have no problem with somebody wanting controller support. I enjoy using a controller quite a bit.

Saying that P&C is not a viable control scheme in the modern age is what I was responding to.

Frankly, being able to play this game entirely one-handed(even to save/load and exit the game) is pretty awesome.

EDIT: Should warn you, though - there is no UI scaling and the text can be quite small. Might be fairly hard to read depending on how big your TV is and how far you're sitting from it.

Thankfully there's no pixel hunting that I've encountered yet.
