State Of Decay Tips/Help

Hi guys, I plan on starting State Of Decay (got it on Steam) this evening and wondered if anyone had played it a lot and had some valuable tips (this thread may be more effective in the console section..)?

I have read through some beginners guides like this one, but I wanted to know if there were certain missions or ways of getting lots of resources fast so you can build a bigger base early on (want to get a Watchtower and some outposts up).

Okay well I started it anyway and used this video. In the very first mission (prologue) when it tells you to drive to the church, you can explore the entire map and discover all the buildings and possible home bases without having to worry about perma-death:

I plan on moving to the Snyder Trucking home base asap as it is the best one.
