Long story short I'm in the states and looking for a car we don't get much of back home, preferably a muscle(ish) car and that narrows it down to Chargers, Challengers, and Camaros.
After a lot of musing and option weighing, I've settled on a Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody with Shaker, as a manual and in black.

Finding that spec with low mileage, within my tolerance for budget, without being a salvage, means I need to shop around. So the whole country is on my radar, and it's slim pickings.

But one came up 50 miles away, and not only is does it meet those specs, but it's one of the last batch made under the "Shakedown" name for it's production swan song (they stopped producing ICE Chargers and Challengers in 2023)

I'll drive up tomorrow to look at it, but main concern from the photos is the state of the rims. It only has 2k on the clock and was likely owned by a military boy who didn't get to drive it much.

Is this corrosion and if so how much have people on here paid to get their rims looking factory again?
And also wondering what the rest of the exterior and undercarriage is like from 2k miles...

Could be brake dust but kind of excessive (and slightly odd pattern wise) for 2K miles unless that has all been running from the state patrol :s

As Roff said, it looks like brake dust with an overspray of polish or whatnot.
Just ask the guy to wipe it down and send another pic.

Could be the laquer has gone. If you are somewhere hot and sunny (like Nevada) it happens pretty quickly on black. Probably parked up for ages and that lower part was in full sun. If you start polishing it and colour is coming off, then it's the laquer :D

Or it could be brake dust mixed with dirt.

Surely if it’s well priced for one of last 2023 Challebgers and a clean car assuming you’ve done a full history check I’d just buy the car if it’s a good deal as even a brand new set of wheels won’t be that much and here in UK a good wheel refurb to new is about £100 a wheel.

These last of run ICE American cars are holding values well in UK particular Challengers and Corvettes as limited numbers in UK.

Rim paint is pretty easy to fix, relatively speaking. If the rest of the car is OK, these rims wouldn't bother me at all. It looks like sun damage to me.

Indeed it is well priced, a similar car at a dealer in NW cali was asking for 15k over this one.

Crazy floods today, so didn't get a chance to go up. Non stop state alerts on the phone telling people not to drive. Here was fine but further north where the dealer is got hit bad.

Nice, cheap flood damaged cars :D
