got my rig back today , plugged it all in and switched it on , fired up a game and the sound was good until I got into the main menu of any game I tried.

its a constant annoying beep or buzz that changes key when ever I do something, move my character, pause the game, resume game.

the only way I can stop the buzzing sound is to quit the game. even when im on the desktop it is still there to a lesser degree, very faint but still a little annoying.

I googled a couple of things to try and fix it but I found nothing to help me fix it.

anyone got the answer I need?
 
If it's only buzzing when you're in game menus then you've likely got EMI being picked up from the graphics card, probably linked to coil whine.

Try running with Vsync on which should stop the frame rate going nuts in the menus.

If that doesn't work then you should probably try an external sound card which will be much less prone to interference simply because it's outside the case.
 
I tryed the vsync option but it didnt work. What should i be looking to spend on an external sound card ,would a basic one work or would it be a case of you get what you pay for?
 
all depends on what you want to do with it and what you intend connecting to it.

If it's just basic speakers / gaming headset then the Asus Xonar U5 (5.1) will do you at £65 or another £10 will get the U7 (7.1).
 
If it's one of the gaming-x gigabyte Z97's then it should come with shielding for the onboard sound.
Have you tried using the onboard video only to see if you get a slight buzz still without the graphics card installed?
If it's only with the r9 390 installed then you are a step closer.
What PSU are you using to power it all?
 
all i want to do is get rid of the buzzing sound. never realy felt the need for a gamig headset on pc although i have got some turtle beaches that i could mayby connect if i ever bought a proper shooter on pc.
 
i found a usb soundcard for 5 squids (i asked for 10 fresh octopus but he turned me down) at the local computer shop. it might be sketch but at the price it seems worth it to try.

What speakers are you using?

If it's just a pair of active stereo speakers then something like the FiiO D3 would do you. You could feed it via optical cable from your motherboard audio and connect the speakers to it via the RCA sockets.

got a 750 wat psu to power it all.
 
Sounds like a ground loop to me. My PC is so bad that any copper link between my PC and the hifi causes noise. (even indirect, like linking my monitor to my av amp) The only solution I found was to either use isolation transformers on all the cables or use optical only.

I reckon the cause lies somewhere in the psu as I've changed everything else and the problem has remained across two different systems in different cases with different sound devices. (internal and external, balanced, unbalanced and coax digital)
 
this is beginning to be annoying, bought a sound blaster z , set it up and I still get the buzzing sound when I move my mouse and it is still heavily present when I play games. at the moment my games are unplayable
 
No reason why a Sound Blaster Z would behave any differently to your on board audio, they are both internal so are exposed to the same interference.

You say you just got your rig back - so what was changed from when it was working properly?
 
so have you tried reseating the GPU or using the old PSU?

Failing that you could try running everything outside the case to ensure it's not being caused by a grounding issue.
 
Shame they didn't test the sound before shipping it back to you.

What exactly is your setup, ie. what is pugged into what?

Reason I ask is that when I first got my Edifier speakers I connected the PC and my TV (which is used as a monitor) at the same time - which caused a ground loop which produced exactly the same results as you are getting. As soon as I disconnected the TV the problem went away.
 
my speakers are off ebay, they didn't do this before the upgrade though, 2 towers with five 6 inch speakers ( 2 subs/2 mids 1 high) and a small tweeter.

on the other side of my room there are 3 speakers 2 with a mid/sub or high and a tweeter and the other is a sub box I think(lol) with 2 speakers and a tweeter.

they all go into my technics amp witch takes the sound from my technics graphic equalizer.

iv got a 42 inch telly next to my tower with a ps3 and 4 aswell

the amp and equalizer are above the tower but this didn't interfere with my previous build.

I have 2 monitors , a 22/3 inch for web browsing and the 42 for films/ gaming
