Hey guys,

I keep getting static charge shocks, and i know you can get anti-static bands that you clip onto something.
My question is, are there other ways of achieving the same effect, as those clip ons are quite inhibiting.
Is there not a literal rubber wrist band that has the same effect, or maybe even just a rubber band?

Thanks.

No. With anti-static bands the important bit is the cable, and what you connect it back to.

I wonder if there is a market for a wireless anti-static wrist band?

I don't think it's possible to get a wireless wrist band that works.

It's all about having the security of always being earthed therefore a physical connection surely.:)

I always make sure I regularly touch the case or a nearby radiator. The bands are REALLY annoying to use, regularly getting messed up with components and cables. Just keep feeling up the case or a radiator and you'll be fine!

I have to use an anti-static wrist strap at work and they are the most annoying thing. When I’m handling pc components at home, I connected the pc to the mains socket but switched OFF! that way the earth is still connected. Then just touch the case every so often.

Never considered doing that with a case before shotgun, good call! I was thinking of buying a strap but what you suggest sounds much easier! :)
