Static ip on Roku device

Due to the ip address on my wireless printer changing, I decided to turn off DHCP and assign ip addresses manually. This has worked for every device connected to my network. My problem is with my two Roku 1 streamig devices. I don't know how to connect them. I read online I could assign the MAC address through the router but I'm not sure on how to do this.

My router is a TP Link WDR3600.

Use the address reservation feature on the router, section 4.9.3 in the manual

Or why not leave DHCP on for the rest of the network to use and just set a static IP on the printer?

As above. Keep life simple and leave DHCP on with address reservations for anything that needs a fixed address.

Good idea is to change your DHCP range to 192.168.1.20 to 192.168.1.254

Then assign reservations (sometimes called static DHCP) by mac address and give those IPs from 192.168.2-19

It doesn't really matter, but why bother restricting the DHCP range when you're using reservations? Its only really necessary if you're assigning static IPs that the DHCP server has no control over.

Bledds solution is good.

Have a small amount of ips out of the range and then use them statically set from the devices.
Mine for example is 192.168.1.50-.200 and all oft infrastructure uses 1.1-1.20 and static devices 1.21-1.49

If you edit the range, then you know none of the IPs you've excluded will be in use.

Otherwise another device could be using it when you assign it.

Clean way of doing it

Sometimes, setting static IPs on certain devices is preferable to using DHCP, so having those IPs excluded from the DHCP range is a must. IE, for printers, switches, CCTV cameras etc
