If I assign a static IP to one off my pc's will I have to also assign static IP address to my other pc connected to my network? In short I need to set-up a static IP address to forward a port.

Ive got a netgear dg834g if this helps.

i'd imagine your router has an option where you can reserve an ip address in dhcp for a certain pc. you'll just need the mac address of the pc in question. run "ipconfig /all" in a command prompt to get it, assuming you're running windows? :) (it will actually be listed as the physical address, a 12 digit mix of letters/numbers)

or if you don't do that, it's still fine to have a mixture of static/dynamic addresses on the network, but it would mean you would have to configure your dhcp scope not to try and assign the static address you want to use. i hope that makes sense.... :p
