Is it possible to set each pc with a static lan ip? Because if I ever have to disconnect the router and connect stuff back up again, everything ends up with a different ip and port forwarding gets messed up because of it.

Yes, you have two options - you can manually assign the IPs to each PC, or you may find that your router has the option to provide the same IP to a client based on a specified MAC address. Most routers provide this.

For example, I have mine set up so that my PC's network card's MAC address always gets allocated 192.168.10.3, but the PC is still configured for DHCP, it just picks the same address up every time.

That's exactly how I've got my router/PC's setup. If you have a Netgear router the option is under LAN IP Setup.

Same for me. Static DHCP is a lot more convenient than manually setting a static IP at the client and I only have to do it once.
