Static noise when ripping CDs

Hi All,

I rip all my CDs at FLAC using MusicBee, I have never had an issue with doing this.

Today I went to listen to Dire Straits Brothers In Arms and noticed that the rip had static noise on it all. I placed the CD into my Technics CD player and it sounds fine, so I deleted the FLAC files and reripped, but again it has static noises.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Just to add, playing the CD through the PC directly also sounds fine.

Are you sure it's not the FLAC playback that is where the static is being introduced?

Can't see how extracting digital data and writing a digital file can introduce any kind of extra noise.

How would I know if it was the FLAC playback? How can I check? Like I say I have not heard this before.

Well I just reripped the files at a slower read and they now sound fine. Could it be that I was ripping at max speed?

This has got me thinking now, what settings should I use for FLAC?

I literally just used the FLAC settings preset in MusicBee, but now a few google searches suggest I should play a little with the settings. Any truth behind this?
