We've bought the kids a big plastic slide with a metal frame. They loved it until this afternoon when they kept getting static shocks....you could actually hear the 'click' of it...it was loud.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to reduce the static? Anything we can spray onto it? Would it help if we earth'd the metal frame?

tell the kids to go down a few times each, then take them to a dark room and tell them to touch each others fingers together
do you see light?
worship your new god the body of zeus but with the head of a queen wasp holding a lighting rod high in the sky with one hand and a rectangle object with a slot in his other hand

a statue you must craft and post pictures of in this thread.

will the gods deem your effort worthy and stop punishing your children for your sins?

BTW instead of grounding the frame maybe attach a capacitor and see if it gets charged and gives larger shocks?

actually gets me thinking, what happens if you attach a capacitor to a farmers electric fence

Your slide should have come with a flux capacitor inside the box. This device sends the static back to the future.

You could try an anti static clothes spray see if that works, but I'd make sure it is safe for children.

You should see my daughters hair after 5 minutes jumping on the trampoline, crazy amount of static on there.

We have the same problem on our trampoline, I've told them to man up and they have but I did think about installing a high resistance discharge point that they could touch and slowly discharge themselves, no idea if it would work tho.

Told them to man up then felt the shock myself

I had to fit a zap strap to door handle of my Mondeo yrs ago - boy did it zap. - I used to get out doing the zap dance. I hate static.

I had similar in a Golf. Every time I got out the car attacked me. It hurt and annoyed me in equal measure.
Stupid physics.
