Hello~

I have a Creative SB64 Live! 5.1 Value. Whenever I play a DVD, it would make a staticy noise. I have to stop it, eject the DVD, wait 5sec, put it back in then play to rid of the noise...I checked all the cables/connections/drivers and everything is the way they should be...and the onboard sound is disabled since build of course. I'm running outta ideas here...can anyone give any insights? Thanx!

The rig:

AMD Athlon64 3200+ 2.61GHz @1.60v/238
ASUS K8V SE Deluxe
Kingston 1GB(2x512) PC3200 DDR400 Value
WD 120GB 7200RPM HDD w/8MB Cache
ATI X800Pro 256MB
Creative SB64 Live! 5.1 Audigy Value Pack
Enermax 600W Premium PSU

In the DVD player settings, is there a sound option for "Quiet Environment", "Normal" and "Noisy Environment" ?

I tried updating the drivers to the latest...tried removing everything and reinstalling...tried updating from the oldest to the newest...nothing worked...

None of those options are available in my DVD drive... :(

Has the IDE channel that the DVD drive is on fallen back to PIO mode.

This happens all the time to me :(

to check it, right-click My Computer, then go:
Manage::Device Manager::IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

Then check all the channels are running DMA mode by right clicking on the channel in Device Manager, then selecting Properties::Advanced.

If a channel is running in PIO mode, uninstall the channel, then run 'Add New Hardware' from control panel.
