A post apocalyptic saga spanning multiple timelines, telling the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what's been lost.
Based on a Book that was written before the pandemic and AFAIK they started filming before the pandemic but got delayed until now because of the pandemic...
so not a covid cash in.

3 eps out so far and then 2 per week until the finale.

I watched 2 eps and it seems kinda slow going, maybe that's why 3 came out at once...

I really like it, I've watched the first three and theres some Leftovers esq weirdness and sense of dread about it.

No idea where its going but looking forward to the next episodes.

2 more eps are out.

Getting better and better imo.

first 3 eps honestly was half tempted to not try anymore but glad I gave it another chance

still a bit slow but you can see the momentum slowly building towards something

ep5 totally loved it :D the CEO whisperer guy is awesome... finally a show with believable characters and good dialogue in 2021.....

Thanks for this. Watched the first 7 episodes and think it's one of the best things I have seen in a long time. The acting and characters are interesting, the direction is great - the mood is compelling and the story is relevant - all in all great TV.

Got up to date on this the other day. I wouldn't say it was fantastic so far it it is good though. Still seems to be building (slowly). I like the mood of the show and could certainly watch more.

I don't much care for Mackenzie Davis she's pretty much the exact same character in this as she is in Halt and Catch Fire. i.e. someone with an inability to control themselves and their anger and use rational thought when challenged.

Reminds me of Juliet Lewis playing some kind of trailer trash in many of her roles. Not that Mackenzie is trash, she's a good actress.

Up to ep3 and it's a serious snooze feast only still hanging in there because people say it gets better. But at what cost and does the ends justify these torturous means.

Update: Watched 9 episodes and don't like it one bit, found it so boring and pointless. The stories all felt ultimately aimless and the jumping around the timeline made it jarring.

Does the book that this show is based on shed more light about the world at large?

We know from the show that tens of millions possible hundreds of millions survived given the population of the world at the time. We don't know if any these people got together for formed cities, but it's likely at some point. All the technology and knowledge isn't lost, so pretty much anything within reason can be made just as it was before just on a smaller scale and more intensive demanding. Possibly pockets of civilisation don't know about other pockets, though In my mind I imagine towns and cities and settlements, and trading. Also since crossing oceans is possible news can spread. The story we see seems to be centred around a group that shunned tech and innovations from the past (for the most part) and choose to live a simple life, but presumably that isn't the world at large.
