Steam account suspended ?

Ok, so i turn my computer on this evening only to be greeted by a message saying;

"Steam account has been suspended"

I am left with the question, why and will I get my account back !? There is 100+ games on there and I am absolutely terrified that I may not be able to get them all back.

I have submitted a ticket to steam but has anyone else had this happen recently ?
 
pretty scary stuff, perhaps your account was hacked? or have you played on more than one computer and left yourself logged in on one and tried to access on another?
 
Never used my account on another machine, ever.

I've heard some right horror stories about steams customer support so I am just praying that they get this sorted. Loosing that value in games is enough to make me quit gaming and just sell my PC.
 
I never got mine back when a similar thing happened. Others have managed it though, so you may be lucky.

Check your paypal history - have they issued some chargebacks without informing you?

Did the justify not returning your account to you ?

One reversal on Paypal for £2.49. Could this be the reason ?
 
Are they really going to hold my account, which must be worth £600 + over a £2.49 reversal !?

If that's the result, I will be screaming.

You need to get paypal to admit that they issued a chargeback without your consent. Once done you'll be able to get the account unlocked.

Have a search in this forum for stuff about steam accounts being locked - there was a thread a few months ago where someone managed to get steam support to not be useless. It will take a while though.

That's exactly way, restore your paypal account as it'll be negative £2.49, and send an email:

gaben@valvesoftware.com

Detailing exactly what happened, tell him you've restored the balance and ask him to contact paypal over it to confirm it, he'll get your account restored for you.

The people who normally deal with it are quite mentally challenged and often have you going around in circles, you should be able to completely avoid that now.

Helped my friend do the same after a paypal chargeback, customer service monkeys were acting idiotic and kept deleting his messages to them, as soon as he emailed Gabe, it got sorted.

Also, I'm sorry but PLEASE stop putting a space before question marks and exclamations.
 
On the phone to Paypal now.

Apparently paypal have refused money from my bank and two credit cards, all of which always have money on them.

Very frustrating.
 
Good grief that is scary, hope you get it sorted.

I have to admit I've become a convert to Steam, buying pretty much all my games there now (in the sale of course :D ) but the issue of whether we 'own' what we have bought or not is a tricky one.

If I have it in a box at least I know it's mine and I can get it working (at least I could before all this online verification started...I wonder if I'll be able to play old games in the future...).
