Steam already running..

Just tried to connect to steam and it starts to update and gets to around 26% and the message comes up "steam is already running...you may only use one copy of steam at a time..".

Now i have checked task manager and there is no background task to end steam and have checked on the steampowered forums and while someone else has mentioned the problem i cant see any answer to the problem yet.

Is anybody else getting this message when starting steam.

Ive also deleted the clientregistry.blob file out of steams program directory but that didnt work.

Any ideas?.

Could be the case although others have reported it on steampowered forums so ill keep an eye on there before trying that to see if it sorts the problem.

i get this every now n then, just try to run it, it'll say theres one already running. Reboot PC, let steam auto-start and it *should* work, if it doesnt you have to start it, end program, start, end program etc till it does.

mine updated, then crashed and it came back on and then it wouldnt boot as the icon was messed up, so i had to reinstall and now it works.
