Steam and skype problem

Im tryin g to play co op on saints row the third

Im trying to chat with my mate over skype

But when we start co op

The volume on skype goes really quioet and i can barely hear him talk

Its like its confilcting with steam

Any ideas how i can resolve this

Steam is trying to use its own in game chat feature

How can i disable it?
