Does anyone know when the steam box is coming out and whether it is worth getting, as I am not sure of the price and its capabilities

the steam box will be modualr in design .. in affect you can pay for better components .. i read somewhere there will be 3 different spec models

We know nothing about it really, pointless speculating at the moment.
If people didn't speculate and stopped being arm chair experts on this forum, the post count per day, would drop by at least half.
GD would probably die.

That's not the Steambox, it's just a custom PC effectively. Can't see who on earth would buy that.
Agreed Valve's own hardware hasn't been shown yet.

The prices for those mini PC's are insane! They'd be great for portability but I can't see anyone with an iota of sense paying that much for them.
That said, the second article uses both £ and $, it doesn't make any sense, though compare it with the first article and it seems it was supposed to be $. Then again we seem to be charged £1 for every $1 anyway..

Also surely the GPU & Cpu in something that small can be up to much,as there no space for a large enough heatsink to get rid of heat..

Cant believe the Xi3 is £899 thought it was supposed to be in opposition to the next gen consoles. But don't worry you get £100 off if you pre-order.
No, this is just a SSF PC that Valve invested in, Valve's own console/pc is coming and will compete with the consoles.

I hope so but you're speculating. We don't know yet how powerful it will be nor how much it will cost.
I'm not speculating at all, Gabe has confirmed this many times.

Why? The Steambox may effectively be a console (fixed specification(s) for developers to target)
