Hi I've had a problem with my LAN computer for a couple of months now and I've finally realised the problem. Originally I thought it was a hardware error, this is because my blue screen said so. It used to say hardware error but I've finally come to realise that every time my computer blue screened I was using steam.

I have the latest version of steam sometimes as soon as I login it blue screens and other times It will let me play a game for a hour or two before it blue screens. I've been googling this issue and not found anything that helpful yet, some things I have tried are...

Install new OS (Windows 7 - 64bit)
delete clientregistery.blob

I didnt use steam for a very long time because when i first tried it i got a really bad bsod which messed up my bios. Luckily it hasnt happened again since and its ok now.

have you tried running memtest from a cd?

software should no longer lead to BSOD under windows7, probably a hardware issue

Yes I ran this and it came up with no errors. I uninstalled steam last night and before I went to bed my PC BSOD. I'm assuming it's the motherboard, it's been doing this since I bought it.
