So just built a new PC and need to copy my steam games over. Installed steam on new PC, downloaded a couple of games then realised I need to copy my game save files over. Found out about steam cloud saves and this sounded perfect!

I go into steam/settings/cloud and click the box to enable steam cloud sync, hit OK and steam closes down. Nothing happens? Is it still a thing? I have spent ages going through menu options and cannot see anything else relating to this topic? Spent over an hour on google looking for answers but nothing...

Any ideas?

Also, some of the games I play don't appear to support the cloud option, any suggestions for them? Manually copy some local files from old to new PC?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Wow, thanks for such a prompt reply! I will give it a try now. Going from a 560ti to a 1080 i can't wait to see the difference in graphics :)

Would like to figure out why steam cloud is not working though? Is it still a thing?

Anyway, thanks very much for the help mate, appreciate it!

Steam cloud, if enabled should sync up your last save when you load the game. Of course it needs to have been enabled whilst you were playing initially as it updates the last cloud save when you quit.

Steam cloud is enabled by default so you shouldn't need to copy any game saves over, they should already be there.

Ha! I just re-read your post, checked out my Steam library and was agog to find (as you said) not every game supports Steam cloud. I really wasn't expecting that! So my bad. I guess you will have to copy some save games manually. They could be scattered about anywhere in your Users folder.

Aye, I guess its only an issue if you use multiple PC's or when you upgrade to a new one?

I think when I first DL'd steam I was renting a place that had no internet, so maybe that's my problem? On the cloud settings page, the box is un-ticked and when I tick it to turn it on, steam just shuts down. Maybe it never installed properly in first place? Guess i'll have to log a support ticket with steam as it just won't turn on...

Thanks for the tip on Game Save Manager, i'll try that tonight when back from work.
Cheers,

I found that out the hard way. 140 hours into Dark souls 3 and needed to reinstall Windows...no cloud syncs supported. DOH.
