Steam Controller or PS5 Dualsense?

Due to having a new baby, the majority of my gaming time at the moment is sofa based while he's asleep.

I'm currently using an Nvidia Shield with the Shield controller, and whilst this works great for console type games which don't require precise aiming (e.g. platformers, action RPGs etc.), I'm embarrassed to admit that I can't aim at all using a stick - enjoying RDR2, but I unless I use deadeye I get slaughtered in pretty much any firefight, working my way through CP2077, but again, struggling with any kind of fast paced aiming (even when using melee, I'm noticing a world of difference between using the controller and M&KB).

So, I'm looking at a new controller which is potentially better suited for these kind of games, and from what I've read/watched, gyro aiming (which these both support), is far better than stick, and can be close to mouse (after a bit of practice at least!).

It looks like the Steam controller will be better for these kind of games, but potentially worse for other general gaming, but has the advantage that it can be used for games without native controller support due to the touchpads/mouse emulation, whereas the Dualsense is a better all round controller, but perhaps not quite as good as the Steam controller for fine "mouse" control?

Just after a bit of feedback from anyone who has used (preferably both of) these really?

Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't think either of those would work, as he actually falls asleep on me, so small controller movements whilst laying back are fine, but sitting up and moving a mouse around is going to be difficult! Sounds like the DS5 is the better controller then? And I guess likely to have better support in the near future since it's newer and hasn't been discontinued!

Maybe the best thing to do is pick up both and just try them out - the Steam controller at least seems to hold it's value, so I could probably sell it on again for close to what it cost me if I don't get on with it.
