Steam - DLC Issues

I am trying to buy Borderlands: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned off Steam, but every time I try to purchase the game I recieve the following error message

"Your transaction failed because you are trying to buy a game that requires ownership of another game you do not currently own. Please correct the error and try again."

So I decided to add the Borderlands game as an non Steam game, as I have an hard copy of the game. The game is now listed in my list of games and plays fine when launching it from Steam. But I am still unable to buy the dlc

Any ideas :confused:

Is the Borderlands game you have got legit? Or a download copy?

Is it because you need the Steam version of Borderlands?

Its an original copy, with a disk, case and a manual.

I am just updating the game to version 1.2.0

Hmmm, seems wired to me. Unless like reflux said dude, you may need the steam copy of borderlads. But I can't see that happening tbh. I would send steam an email or google your problem?

As it says in the product description on Steam, "Requires the Steam version of Borderlands to play."; you can't use Steam to buy the DLC for a retail version.

You'll need to go direct to gearbox themselves. https://store.gearboxsoftware.com/ (although I don't know if this is just for the US version!).

Cheers for that, am just downloading it now from Gearbox. Paid via paypal.
