Steam download stopping/starting?

Hi,

Anyone have any idea how to fix this, I've tried reinstalling steam, clearing download cache, even creating a new steam library and the download just keeps stalling, one got to 2.8GB and then just stopped, it starts for such a small amount of time before stopping it would take weeks to download as opposed to the 9 mins it should be taking.

Strange. You can set limits to the download, check none of those are on. You can tell it to stop whilst playing a game, try turning that off in case it thinks youre in one.
Possibly something on your firewall blocking it, try disabling the firewall.
Is the HDD nearly full? There's an option to pre-allocate disk space before downloading, you could try this in case windows is stopping it writing any more data.
Also try downloading a different game, never had it before but it could be an issue with steam data.

The HDD had nearly 1TB free.

It's a Firecuda SSHD. Interestingly I moved RDR2 over to the SSHD to free up space on the NVMe drive and it's downloading smoothly, so it seems to be something to do with the drive but the drive isn't reporting any errors?
