Beginning at 4:00 am Pacific time Monday October 11th, we will be performing software maintenance on the Steam servers. We expect the resulting downtime to last four hours, putting the end of the window at 8:00 am Pacific time.

Some Steam services will be offline during this time. Affected services will include the Steam Community, in-game matchmaking or lobbies, downloading games from Steam content servers, and making purchases from the Steam store. Games that do not rely on Steam matchmaking services should remain playable.

We will work to make this downtime as short as possible. Thank you for your patience!

So from about mid-day to 4pm.

I take it from reading the above, sp civ5 games are still good to go? Hope so, otherwise I have no idea what I'll do during my lunch hour at work :(

As long as the downtime doesn't upset the Americans, as far as steam is concerned everywhere else can go and **** themselves.

In before people on the steam forums demand compensation from Valve for the time they couldn't play their games online.

What are they meant to do? Downtime is naturally going to affect somebody in the world, and the US is their biggest market, so it's a no brainer to do it in the middle of the night in the US, especially considering they are based in the US.

Actually im pretty sure it was reported a while back that theres more pc gamers in Europe. :p

Are people seriously getting upset over a 4-hour downtime? Read a book, wander around town, go to the gym etc. Not really a biggy in the scheme of things is it?
